Ketron Peek Rod | Plastic Stockist
Ketron Peek Rod (natural/brownish grey or black)
A unique combination of high mechanical properties, temperature
resistance and excellent chemical resistance making it the most popular
advanced engineering material. Available in Ketron PEEK 1000, Ketron Peek
HPV, Ketron Peek GF30 and Peek CA30 grades in Rod.
Ketron Peek Rod is often used to replace PTFE when higher mechanical
load bearing capacity, or when superior wear resistance is needed. Ketron
Peek Rod is widely selected as a replacement for metal components.
Examples of components made from Ketron Peek grades: pump components, valve
seats, bearings, rollers, gears, high temperature insulators, components
exposed to boiling water or steam.
Ketron PEEK-1000 (PEEK) natural (brownish grey) / black
Ketron PEEK-1000 stock shapes are produced from virgin
polyetheretherketone resin and offer the highest toughness and impact
strength of all grades. The composition of the raw materials used for the
production of the natural stock shapes complies with the directives of the
European Union and the American FDA regulations concerning plastic materials
intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. These features, added to its
excellent sterilisability by means of steam, dry heat, ethylene oxide and
gamma irradiation, make this grade very popular in medical, pharmaceutical
and food processing industries.
Ketron PEEK-HPV (PEEK + CF + PTFE + graphite) black
The addition of carbon fibres, PTFE and graphite to virgin PEEK results
in a "Bearing Grade". Its excellent tribological properties (low friction,
long wear and high Pressure-Velocity capabilities) make this grade
especially suited for bearing and wear applications.
Ketron PEEK-GF30 (PEEK-GF30) natural (brownish grey)
This 30% glass fibre reinforced grade offers higher stiffness and creep
resistance than Ketron PEEK-1000 and has a much better dimensional
stability. Ketron PEEK-GF30 is very appropriate for structural parts
carrying high static loads for long periods of time at elevated
temperatures. Its suitability for sliding parts, however, is to be carefully
examined since the glass fibres tend to abrade the mating surface.
Ketron PEEK-CA30 (PEEK-CF30) black
This 30% carbon fibre reinforced grade combines even higher stiffness,
mechanical strength and creep resistance than Ketron PEEK-GF30 with an
optimum wear resistance. Moreover, the carbon fibres provide 3.5 times
higher thermal conductivity than virgin PEEK, dissipating heat from the
bearing surface faster.
Common uses for Ketron Peek Rod
Ketron Peek rod typical applications are Valve Seat, Dosing Valves and
Pump Wear rings. Below are some examples on why Peek plastic was chosen for
the applications.
Peek valve seat was adopted due to premature replacement of a
glass-filled PTFE seat, causing excessive warranty expense for a manufacture
of industrial cleaning equipment. The solution was to use Ketron Peek 1000
to replace the poppet seat and allowed increased reliability of the mixing
unit in the cleaning equipment. Hydrolysis resistant and far more stable
than PTFE, Ketron Peek 1000 retains its properties after thousand of hours
of operation.
Ketron Peek Dosing Valves was an ideal choice for this filling operation.
During the process, viscous liquids are pressed through these
valves and dosed directly into the single portion packages. Designers were
looking for a material that offered chemical resistance and dimensional
stability. Food contact compliance was also needed. Ketron Peek offers
the requested chemical resistance against foodstuffs and cleaning agents, as
well as excellent wear resistance and dimensional stability. Ketron Peek
offers a food contact compliant composition in line with the EU & US
regulatory requirements. The benefits with using Peek plastic are the part
lifetime is increased and maintenance significantly reduced. Furthermore,
Ketron Peek is easily machined.
Ketron Peek Pump Wear Rings replaced the original bronze parts.
The bronze parts shipped with the original units were changed to Ketron Peek
CA30 parts instead as the centrifugal pump wear parts were failing due to
corrosion and galling. The Peek rings eliminated the problem and increased
the efficiency of the units. The chemical resistance, temperature resistance
and good stability of the carbon fibre filled PEEK CA30 form the ideal
material for high temperature, close tolerance applications where chemicals
are present.
